The Home of Ethical Bird Feeding

Hello and welcome to all of the Finches’ Friends out there, past, present, and future!

We are Dick and Andrew Woods, father and son, and the people behind Finches Friend.

We’ve been working for many years to highlight the issue of disease transmission in wild bird feeding.

It is really sad that the wild bird industry as a whole has turned a blind eye to the problem, transferring responsibility to the consumer by promoting cleaning as a cure all.

Cleaning is important, however most of the products in the market today invite disease proliferation and transmission.

With the problem being ignored, we were left with no choice but to design completely new feeders, with bird welfare built into every facet of the feeders.

A New Hope

Today there is hope. The RSPB have completed two years of Trichomonosis research, and are about to release their findings. Andrew and I are proud to have supported RSPB with their work.

Whilst this research was taking place, we didn’t stand still. We continued creating bird friendly garden solutions, and are ready to present them to the public.

At Goodnestone Park Gardens in Kent, we have our “Total Garden Solution” and “Cleaner Feeding Centre”.

As much as the industry relies upon ignorance to sell, we must share knowledge. To that end, we have created a presentation which explains in simple terms our history and our plans to pass Finches Friend on to someone who can scale the business.

We share information on the species affected by Trichomonosis, and how disease is transmitted.

Finally we explain our solutions and how they are applied. We hope you find it useful and informative.
